GoLive 6 Magic Book Reviews

Reader Feedback

I have been using GoLive for several versions...since Adobe took it on. I use it at least weekly and have maintained six Web sites with it. I feel like I'm fairly adept at using GoLive and have even taught some 'basics' in classes.

Yet this book totally knocked me on my ass. Sorry for the language, but that is the only way to really describe it. Wow!

These authors are definitely pushing the user into the deep, dark recesses of the program. Very cool! I didn't have any clue that I could do some of these really advanced things (like SDK work and Action editing).

Plus, some of the projects are just cool. From the calendar project early on to the dynamic time stamp and the WML work... awesome stuff. I walk away not only feeling like a newbie, but feeling like I learned a lot!

Just got my copy of GoLive 6 Magic...It's a fantastic set of advanced tutorials with great detail. The tutorials themselves aren't empty exercises, but rather some very common and interesting tasks...

Our Real World GoLive title is a great complement to this book. Ours is exhaustive; theirs, specific. Anyone who found themselves needing advanced tutorials after reading our title should run out and buy this book now.

I'm very excited by the quality and depth of GoLive 6 Magic. It's another tool in the arsenal of intermediate and advanced GoLive users.

Paul Vachier's "GoLive 6 Magic" is UNBELIEVABLE!!! I just got my copy I can hardly put it down... I love it, Rob Kenigers tutorial "Building a Dynamic Content Management System with PHP and MySQL " alone made the book well worth the price.

Paul Vachier has definately written a great book here and recruited one hell of a great group of GoLive power users who have contributed their vast knowledge and experience to making this an altogether awesome read. I'd reccomend this book to anyone who knows the basics and wants to get down and dirty with GoLive 6.

Thanks!

I love this book. In a niche by itself. GL folks are loving it and I fully see why. Good work, all of you, on this!

One thing strikes you when you look at GoLive 6 magic: it's a beautiful object. The classy layout, the horizontal format make it standout from a lot of other technical books. Each chapter's introduction is preceded by a very nice black and white macro photo and a quotation by the likes of Salvador Dali, Aldous Huxley or Woody Allen.

And the content is of the same quality. 14 ambitious GoLive 6 projects clearly detailed by experts in the field and covering a wide range of topics, from creating actions to building a dynamic content management system. In the end you'll realize that you've been using PHP, JavaScript, i-mode, and WML technologies like if it was natural for you.

This book is aimed at advanced users, but the way it is written makes it understandable to not so advanced users :-).

It's author, Paul Vachier is GoLive's historical webmaster and he has writen many actions included with GoLive since version 2. His deep knowledge of GoLive might be one of the reasons the book is so clear. Rob Keniger, MenuMachine author, has helped him too with some chapters (maybe one of the important projects he told me about few month ago).

A CD ROM with exercise file is included. If you are too lazy to code, you'll love the ready made extensions like image size fixer. It looks for missing image Height and Width attributes and creates and fills them with the correct values. This is one of my favorite and I've allready used it to fix hundreds of pages.

So I can only say thank you Paul for such an excellent book!

This book sucks!!! Can I have my money back?

OK, no one really said that (yet), but I figured I had to put in one bad review...
