The Roadster is a product of Tesla Motors, a small startup company based in California. Utilizing a completely electric drivetrain and new Litium Ion battery technology, the Roadster is not only capable of an equivalent of 135 miles per gallon, but can accelerate from 0 - 60 in only 3.9 seconds. The car plugs into a regular electrical outlet for recharging and can be fully charged in 3.5 hours. Telsa pulled out all the latest technology punches for their new car which unfortunately has a price over $100,000. Nonetheless, the Roadster represents an important technological milestone and promises to push the envelope on electric car technology and performance.

Tesla Roadster User Reviews
  • Tesla estimates that the motor’s efficiency is in the 90 percent range, compared with about 27 percent for a typical internal combustion engine. It has almost no losses; it’s simply a spinning metallic rotor. Slowing down, the controller captures about 20 percent of the torque and converts it back to electricity. - Autoweek
